An Energy Infrastructure Company
Stonehill Environmental Partners is an energy infrastructure company focused on designing, building, owning and operating fixed water pipeline, recycling and disposal assets. Stonehill also focuses on monetizing existing E&P owned water infrastructure assets so E&P companies can re-deploy capital to core drilling and completion activities.
A Brief History
The Stonehill management team previously founded and built Hillstone Environmental Partners before its sale in October 2019. Hillstone designed, built, owned and operated an interconnected water gathering, recycling, and disposal system in the heart of the Permian Delaware Basin in Loving and Lea County with total pipeline capacity of 680,000 bpd and permitted capacity of 1,265,000 bpd.
Hillstone's innovative hub and spoke system design resulted in high reliability through top-tier operations combined with facility redundancy. Over the time the Hillstone team owned and operated the assets in Bakken, Northeast and Oklahoma, they had a 100% uptime while providing service to several large independent and major integrated oil companies. Hillstone's system had an in-house automation system that included SCADA, data and communications.
Stonehill is backed by Golden Gate Capital, a leading private equity investment firm with $17 billion of committed capital. Golden Gate Capital is differentiated by its unique perpetual fund structure, enabling the firm to make long-term investments without liquidity constraints and build businesses over an indefinite hold period.
Golden Gate Capital’s investors are largely comprised of perpetually-oriented capital sources from around the world. The firm has longstanding relationships with many of its investors, who range from major endowments and non-profit foundations to sovereign wealth funds and closely controlled operating entities.
Golden Gate Capital’s previous energy experience includes Hillstone Environmental Partners, which it created as a de novo partnership with the Stonehill management team. Hillstone was sold to NGL Energy Partners LP (NYSE: NGL) in 2019. Other notable investments include U.S. Silica, which it monetized in 2014, as well as EP Minerals.
